Background
The London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham commissioned us to improve their active travel infrastructure for residents and businesses. We engaged with stakeholders, residents and market traders to investigate the need for better cycle parking and storage in the proximity of the North End market area.
Project Centre’s team assessed the existing conditions and developed a proposal for a new cycle hub.
Process
Our cycle hub proposal included a single-storey building of over 130 meters square, located near the Council owned car park. This already provides space for 20 standard cycles, including four units for market traders and a secured unit for last-mile delivery services.
Our newly proposed cycle hub will be located in the northwest corner of the car park to ensure easy access for users and last-mile deliveries. We also chose this location to avoid impacts on the existing Santander cycle hire station as well as retaining as many car parking bays as possible.
Outcome
Project Centre provided an entire project management service, delivering concept to detailed designs on time and within budget. Our civil engineering team was also involved in the scheme, developing a comprehensive Construction Logistics Plan to mitigate the construction work impacts on residents, businesses and the environment.
