Marston Holdings is delighted to announce that we are the first organisation to become a certified Identity Service Provider (IDSP) on the UK Digital Identity & Attributes Trust Framework by the British Standard Institute (BSI).
What is the new scheme?
The Home Office recently introduced plans for a Digital Identity Certification Scheme, (DICS), through which certified Identity Service Providers can carry out identity verification checks for right to work, right to rent and criminal record checking purposes.
The Digital Identity Certification Scheme will allow companies and organisations to enlist the support of IDSP’s to utilise remote video technology to verify a person’s identity using presented documentation, electronic validation of that document and a visual comparison process which will determine that the holder of the presented document is the person featured in the document to a set confidence level.
Marston Holdings processes and procedures have been assessed and audited by BSI as providing a very high confidence level, the highest grade of confidence available within the scheme.
What does this mean for me as an employer?
Should an organisation choose to procure an IDSP to carry out identity verification checks in accordance with the new scheme, then as a result, a first day in-person check will not be required to be undertaken to attain a Statutory Excuse for that employee. It should be noted that the scheme only applies to applicants who hold a valid, in-date, British or Irish passport or Irish passport card.
Applicants requiring to be processed through the DICS, and who possess an identity document listed in the scheme will need to upload a ‘selfie’ image at the time they upload their identity document. This image will be professionally compared against the image contained within the identity document to ensure that the images match.
Thanks to Marston’s exclusive partnership with Keesing Technologies, an additional validation of each applicant’s identity document will be undertaken by the industry leading Authentication software, enabling the applicant’s identity to be verified to the highest level of confidence.
Organisations verifying an applicant’s identity through the Digital Identity Certification Scheme will attain a Statutory Excuse without the need for further ‘day one’ checks.
What happens if I don’t want to participate in the new scheme?
For those organisations who do not wish to participate in the Digital Identity Certification Scheme, Marston Holdings will ensure that existing and future service processes maintain the highest standards.
In addition, Marston is committed to continue offering rigorous and robust processes that fully defend and protect our clients against employing those who do not have a right to work in the United Kingdom or Republic of Ireland.
