The challenge
A defendant who now resided in the United States of America, owed over £65,000 for the interest on
a business loan.
Our solution
Marston Recovery was instructed under a High Court Writ of Control to proceed to a large unit in London where the defendant stored numerous unique, collectible and potentially valuable motor vehicles. The property was unmanned and no response to correspondence or visits was forthcoming so with the assistance of a locksmith we gained access to the property to find tens of vehicles stored within. With the advice of a specialist auctioneer, a selection of the vehicles were valued and removed to our storage facility.
The defendant’s legal representative made various applications to the court to prevent the sale and have the vehicles returned. After many hearings and significant costs being incurred by all
parties involved the vehicles were finally sold via public auction.
The impact
The vehicles raised more than £150,000 which paid off the original debt and all the costs incurred by the claimant.
