Project Centre Celebrated World Mental Health Day on Monday 10th October. The theme was “making mental health and well-being for all a global priority”. The world Federation for Mental Health has been promoting mental health awareness for over seventy years.
Mental health is about our psychological and emotional well-being. It’s something we all have and should look after as much as our physical health because it affects our behaviour, choices and relationships.
Project Centre created a group called Mental health first aiders. The group is made up of trained employees who promote mental well being at Project Centre. They offer a safe and confidential space for discussion and organise events.
How we celebrated World Mental Health day
The Mental health first aiders organised a social meeting to celebrate Mental Health Day. Employees baked cakes and brought them in to share with one another. Colleagues gathered and talked about their day, leaving work at their desks. Events like this are held monthly to help employees reduce stress and connect.
At Project Centre we foster a close and friendly environment where we support employees who may be struggling and offer solutions such as flexible working and support groups. We encourage socialisation and plan time where employees can get to know one another. Social events provide time away from work so employees can destress. These include celebration days, award ceremonies, coffee mornings and volunteering days.
We prioritise the mental and physical health of our employees. Project Centre’s Mental health first aiders consistently provide tips and advice for staying healthy mentally and looking after our minds. The team have recommended staying active, meditation, and making time for hobbies as good practices for our mental health.
