CIHY awarded us with the Employer of the Year Awards at the 2021 CIHT ceremony!
By all means, this award recognises ‘employers that have made an outstanding effort in engaging with their employees and the wider sector. It takes into account how investing in people has made a positive contribution to the company, industry and society.’
Implementing a staff survey was the first step to opening a dialogue between us and our people. This provided us a baseline for measuring key areas that needed improvement or that staff felt we should take an active role in.
By all means, there is still a long way to go but so far we have achieved the following:
- 47 members of staff rewarded and recognised with promotions since 2019.
- Staff happiness increased by 12% from 2019 to 2021
- 10% increase in staff understanding of their role and expectations of them, up to 96% over 18 months.
- Developed four working groups who focus on driving change in the areas of celebration, career progression, culture and communications.
- Developed our Equality and Inclusion Group, reviewing policies and practices to ensure we are as inclusive as we can be.
- Eight employees sponsored on part-time degree as much as masters courses and a further three on BTEC
- Five years of our Graduate scheme. In addition of the scheme, 29 out of 38 are still working with us.
- 18 mentees in the Senior Leadership Team Mentoring Initiative.
