Project Centre’s Technical Director for Transport Chris Durban attended the TRANSPORT Smart Class in London Covent Garden. The event brought together experts in technology driven transport solutions. The discussions were centred on improving mobility around the city and reducing pollutants.
Transportation in the UK is an issue that affects millions of people. There are concerns over traffic, air pollution and health and safety. Experts in the sector discussed several solutions during the Transport Smart class. One example is utilising autonomy to support the public transport system and future proof busways. This makes roads safer and could potentially take “every citizen to their destination with at least 80 per cent fewer cars”, stated by The International Association of Public Transport (UITP).
Levelling up – Our vision for Northolt
Chris Durban presented “our Vision for Northolt” which is one of the Levelling up schemes funded in Round 1. Chris has technical experience over a range of transport disciplines from planning and concept design to detailed design and implementation. He has managed projects with Windsor and Maidenhead Highways Framework, Reading Borough Council and the London Boroughs of Lambeth and Kingston. In addition Chris oversaw the delivery of several LEP schemes.
During the Smart Class, Chris went through our Levelling Up scheme for Northolt. Northolt lacked the supporting infrastructure and investment to integrate new ways of transportation. Chris discussed engagement strategies used to reach Northolt’s diverse communities. That data influenced how active travel was designed and monitored throughout and after delivery.
The recording of our “Vision for Northolt” is now available to watch on demand. Check it out: https://lnkd.in/eWfdukVQ https://lnkd.in/e6p8FjdS
