Project Centre won three British Parking Awards – and was finalist in six categories!

Project Centre is thrilled to announce that we have won three Award and have been named finalists in six categories at the prestigious British Parking Awards! This recognition highlights the outstanding efforts of our teams across various innovative projects and the Marston Group.

We are incredibly proud to be acknowledged for our contributions and look forward to the awards ceremony, where we celebrate the achievements of our teams and the industry.

Project Centre and NSL collaborated with The City of Edinburgh Council to develop an innovative pavement parking enforcement methodology, following Scotland’s national ban on pavement parking. Project Centre assessed 5,185 roads in Edinburgh, categorising them using a Red/Amber/Green system based on pavement parking levels.

The study informed enforcement strategies and identified sustainable mitigation measures, like parking bays and footway widening. Our clear visualisations and accurate reporting supported the Council in creating a database of high-impact roads, improving interventions’ planning and monitoring, and facilitating the public and stakeholders’ engagement.

Our sister company, NSL, was commissioned by Edinburgh for enforcement. NSL’s officers were trained to address the new challenge and to launch a public awareness campaign. Their efforts resulted in significant positive behaviour changes, with parking contravention notices and complaints steadily declining since enforcement began in January 2024.

Project Centre’s traffic and parking team is a leading multidisciplinary group providing innovative traffic and parking solutions across the UK. With over 46 members, the team includes engineers, consultants, transport planners, and traffic order specialists. Guided by Technical Director, Scott Lester, and Technical Director, Olaseni Koya, the team excels in active travel, road safety, and sustainable parking schemes, reducing congestion, and improving air quality in urban areas.

Notable projects include Medway Healthy Streets and Lewisham Sustainable Streets, focusing on school streets, traffic enforcement, tree planting, and active travel measures. The team has played a key role in high-profile projects such as the Waltham Forest Mini-Holland scheme and many Liveable Neighbourhoods projects across London.

Parking Associate, Amanda Jones

Amanda Jones, Associate Consultant in Traffic Orders at Project Centre, has been awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award at the British Parking Awards, celebrating her 35-year career in Traffic Regulation Orders (TROs).

Amanda began her career with the Greater London Council and has since contributed to high-profile projects, including Westminster’s motorcycle charging initiative and the Oxford Street scheme. Since joining Project Centre in 2021, she has delivered innovative, technically robust traffic orders for local authorities, establishing herself as a leading expert in the field.

Her mentorship and dedication to training the next generation of TRO writers have also left a lasting impact on the industry. Chris Harrison, Regional Director at Project Centre, praised her for setting new standards in traffic order management and operational efficiency.

This award highlights Amanda’s lifelong commitment to enhancing traffic systems, road safety, and UK transportation infrastructure.

Our multi-disciplinary team provides crucial back-office design and processing support to Medway Council. The range of services we provide includes:

  • Organising and responding to public requests and complaints
  • Managing and responding to Councillor and MP parking queries
  • Assessing and arranging for the implementation of disabled bays
  • Designing and managing Medway’s annual works programme, including implementing parking restrictions, traffic orders and controlled parking zones
  • Overseeing the traffic order process for major schemes such as the Healthy Medway programme
  • Managing politically sensitive such as the introduction of red routes, moving traffic enforcement and School Street restrictions

Our partnership with Medway Council included being based on-site, ensuring effective communication and quick responses to issues like parking disruptions affecting local bus services. The Council implemented some of our parking solutions, which have improved road safety and traffic flow.

Sam Medhurst, Parking Consultant

Sam is being nominated for the Rising Star Award due to his exceptional contributions at Project Centre. His dedication, creativity, and commitment set him apart. He has excelled in various parking projects and played a key role in high-profile initiatives, such as the London Borough of Southwark’s ‘Streets for People Strategy’ and the London Lorry Control Scheme (LLCS).

His work in Southwark involved reviewing and drafting policies to improve residents’ quality of life and reduce climate impact, which has been praised by the client. Sam also leads a team tasked with checking over 3,000 junctions to minimise noise pollution and manage the environmental impact of Heavy Goods Vehicles across London.

Tom Narborough, Senior Parking Consultant

Tom joined Project Centre as an Apprentice Parking Consultant in 2016 at age 16. He has since risen to Senior Consultant, leading teams on a variety of parking and transport projects. Tom’s key achievements include managing Medway Council’s School Streets project, improving road safety, reducing air pollution, and supporting sustainable transport. He also played a major role in the Red Routes extension for Luton Borough Council, helping to manage traffic flow and parking compliance.

Tom’s attention to detail and strong understanding of regulations ensure the success of his projects. While his leadership and initiative consistently impress clients.

Elena Golita, Senior Parking Consultant

Elena has made significant progress in the parking industry since joining NSL as a Civil Enforcement Officer in 2014. Quickly demonstrating her skills, she earned a Wamitab Level 2 qualification in Conflict Management and was promoted to Senior Civil Enforcement Officer within four months.

In 2021, Elena transitioned to Project Centre as a Parking Consultant. Where she supported various projects such as traffic enforcement, parking bay reviews, and data analysis. She quickly adapted and delivered high-quality Traffic Regulation Orders and controlled parking zones. Elena’s dedication and leadership have made her an invaluable asset to the team.

Congratulations to all the finalists and projects recognised this year. This achievement reflects our collective dedication and excellence within our industry.
