Lighting and technology
Our lighting and technology team delivers high-grade lighting proposals using the latest equipment and technology. Our lighting systems add value and ensure longevity to our client’s highways and public realm.
The UK government’s “Taking the Charge electric vehicle” policy identified a need for between 300,000 and 700,000 publicly available charge points to meet demand by 2030 and ensure the UK meets their Net Zero targets.
The EV sector is rapidly growing and it is becoming increasingly important for both public and private sector organisations to consider requirements for providing charging and electrifying their fleets.
Project Centre’s dedicated EV team supports public or private sector clients across the country, providing an integrated transport consultancy to better understand the benefits and impacts of vehicle electrification and transport decarbonisation.
Our team has a wealth of experience in delivering and evaluating EV infrastructure strategies. We keep abreast of the latest developments in the EV market and we’ll ensure that our schemes locate the right charge points in the right place.
Our services
- Developing comprehensive EV infrastructure strategies.
- An independent and impartial partner to support the rollout of EV.
- Using Geographical Information Systems (GIS) analysis to identify and select optimal charge point locations.
- Managing the entire installation process and developing full business cases to support procurement, including planning delivery and funding allocation.
- Evaluating current car club operations and identifying opportunities for expansion and electrification.
- Developing fleet electrification strategies, including analysis of the current fleet, charging location, and delivery models. We also support small-to-medium companies in considering the impacts of vehicle fleet electrification.
- Delivering in-person and online workshops and training to broaden officers’ knowledge. These can include an introduction to EV, strategy development, procurement considerations, EV engagement, and GIS mapping. Expanding your resources and capabilities through secondment opportunities.
Project Centre provides a comprehensive design and consultancy service with an expert team that supports clients with the entire project management. From planning applications and concept design to detailed designs and site clearance.

- Promoting energy-efficient designs that minimise the negative effects on the environment
Our team comprises experienced lighting and electrical engineers who are active members of the Institute of Lighting Professionals. We are experts in using a range of specialist software, such as Lighting Reality Outdoor and Roadway, Amtech, and Dialux.
Public Realm Lighting
Our team has extensive experience in providing lighting assessments, reports, and designs for the public realm. Our decorative lighting portfolio includes town and high street regeneration projects, festive lighting, catenary, parks, pedestrianised squares, and many other public realm infrastructures.
Our services
- Creating detailed assessments to establish the required lighting levels
- Producing technical reports
- Providing in-depth detailed designs for light proposals, including specific ducting routes, terminations, electrical schematics, and calculations
- Providing site–based services
- Managing the project from the initial site and condition survey to site clearance, circuit identification and electrical testing.
We use lights of different colour temperatures, and through technics such as uplighters, wall washing, spot beam lighting, we create effects that complement the public realm space. Our lighting proposals give an identity to public realms, boosting local economies and generating a sense of local pride.
Structures are an integral feature on highways and within the public realm, helping to connect roads and spaces. Our team is experienced in designing lighting for structures including:
- Underpasses and tunnels
- Flyovers and viaducts
- Footbridges
- Stairways and ramps
- Subways
