Project Centre undertook a feasibility study to assess the traffic conditions and propose solutions to mitigate the bus delays along the vicinity of Hillingdon Hospital.
The London Borough of Hillington was looking to prioritise bus services over general traffic as well as reducing delays to the service. The project also required an improvement of the existing cycling and walking infrastructure, minimising the impacts on safety and traffic.
Our processes for traffic management
Our expert teams produced key processes to help the Council to achieve its goals. We helped with:
- Widening footways and cycle routes
- Introducing bus gates and relocating bus stops
- Shortening crossings, realigning highways and introducing mini roundabouts and improved signalised junctions
- Designing traffic modelling tools and reporting data analysis
- Identifying key issues and highlighting these to the client at the early stages
- Reviewing designs regularly and updating clients and stakeholders
The impact
We delivered the design package in a timely manner. Whilst working on the design project, we kept constant communication with the client, which allowed us to address any issue or concern promptly.
We had to take into consideration the redevelopment of the hospital to provide suitable designs for the future. Our team presented their feasibility designs at an early stage, giving the client sufficient time to review their preferred options.
“Thanks for turning this work around so quickly and to our deadline. The level of detail is just what we needed.”
Alan Tilly, London Borough of Hillingdon
