Do you have unauthorised encampments invading your land, bringing safety risks, security concerns, fly-tipping issues and legal challenges? As the number of encampments peaks at this time of year, understanding the removal process becomes vital.
As the largest field force within the UK, our expertly trained Enforcement Agents (EAs) and High Court Enforcement Officers (HCEOs) give us national coverage to recover your land quickly and efficiently.
In this guide, we will outline the steps involved in how we can safely and legally remove unauthorised encampments from your land.
My rights - Common law
Understanding common law is crucial in reclaiming control of your land.
It acknowledges landowners’ rights to manage their land and allows them to address unauthorised encampments. Landowners have the legal authority to request removal, following established procedures.
Taking action
- Instruct us
When you are ready to take action against unauthorised encampments on your land, we are here to assist without delay. Instruction can take place by email, or calling us on: 0161 814 8678.
- Our approach
Step 1
Once instructed, our team swiftly deploys EAs to your land within as little as two hours of receiving your instruction, ensuring prompt action and resolution. They will provide the occupants with a Notice to vacate the land, including detailed intelligence gathered during their visit.
With a 100% success rate, our highly skilled agents have extensive experience communicating reasonably with the community and understand the importance of maintaining positive relationships.
Our agents effectively navigate sensitive situations by employing a diplomatic approach and fostering open communication. They work collaboratively with the community, encouraging cooperation and understanding whilst ensuring compliance with regulations.
Step 2
The EAs will attend the site the next morning to check if the occupiers have vacated the premises. If they are still present, our agents will attempt to engage with them further to encourage them to leave. If communication efforts are unsuccessful, we will proceed to bring tow trucks to support us, or in some cases, the police to prevent a breach of the peace.
After the site has been vacated and a comprehensive report from the agents has been received, our clients undergo a thorough debriefing, which includes the report and accompanying photographs.

Client testimonials
“Marston Recovery assisted Worcestershire County Council with an enforcement project which involved dealing with a number of vehicles, caravans and individuals who were trespassing on land within a residential law abiding traveller community. The staff involved, including Ben and his team, were professional, efficient, empathetic and sensitive to the situation, which resulted in a successful operation to move the group on and allow residents to return to their normal lives.”
