Background
Project Centre assisted the London Borough of Redbridge (LBRed) in implementing last-mile deliveries through e-cargo bikes. The implementation is set to reduce costs to businesses and the negative impacts of CO2 emissions on the community.
The A12/Ley Street was suffering from poor air quality and high levels of traffic in peak hours. Project Centre supported LBRed in developing the freight workstream. We established a successful freight hub to channel deliveries for businesses in the local area.
Process
Our transport planning team developed the e-cargo and freight hub strategy through multiple sustainable steps, helping the London Borough of Redbridge with:
- Reviewing policies and baseline
- Studying the feasibility of the scheme
- Engaging with partners, stakeholders and drivers
- Developing the strategic outline business case
- Delivering high quality designs
Impact of our e-cargo hub
The work was completed in May 2022 and it was well received by the LBRed. We are now working with the Ilford Business Improvement District to implement a second trial scheme in the area.
‘Sarah and Project Centre were good at bringing us up to speed and working with us on moving the project forward. They took on feedbacks and followed up on information quickly and efficiently. The team was able to adjust the delivery pace of the study to meet our needs and work around gaps in information. Sarah was persistent and asked for assistance from borough officers where needed.’
