We are thrilled to announce that NSL, have won the prestigious Parking in the Community Award, alongside The City of Edinburgh Council and Social Bite! This recognition highlights our dedication to making a positive impact beyond our core services, particularly through our partnership with Social Bite, a charity committed to breaking the cycle of homelessness
A project with purpose
The inspiration behind this initiative stems from the growing visibility of homelessness across our cities. Seeing individuals in such vulnerable situations moved us to act, leading to the development of a project aimed at providing employment opportunities to those who need them most. Spearheaded by Vanessa Bartie, HR and Payroll Manager in Edinburgh, and Paolo Orezzi, Service Director in Westminster, our collaboration with Social Bite has been a powerful force for change.
Social Bite’s approach goes beyond merely preparing candidates for interviews. They create an environment where individuals feel socially, emotionally, and physically safe, which is critical for rebuilding their confidence and work readiness. One of the program participants, shared, “Social Bite gave me the support I needed to rebuild my confidence and get back to work. It’s not just about getting a job; it’s about getting my life back.”
Our success so far
We are proud to share that, to date, twelve individuals from Social Bite have joined our teams in Edinburgh, Westminster, and Kensington & Chelsea. Their journey from homelessness to stable employment is a testament to the transformative power of this initiative. Another successful candidate, said, “After years of homelessness, getting a job with NSL has changed my life. I can now support my daughter and take care of my mental health—something I couldn’t do before.”
A word from Social Bite
Emma Colgan-Blair, Programme Coordinator at Social Bite, shared her thoughts on our partnership: “Marston Holdings has been an incredible partner, fully embracing our Jobs First Programme with compassion and commitment. Together, we’ve helped twelve people secure employment, with many achieving financial stability and even promotions. We look forward to continuing our work with Marston, helping more individuals build the lives they deserve.”
We are excited to be recognised for this impactful work and remain committed to making a difference in the communities we serve.
