Jamie Leyh joined us as a Parking Attendant in 2006. Previously, he had been a pub landlord but found himself redundant due to the pubs closure. Initially, Jamie considered the job as a temporary solution while he searched for other employment opportunities.
Jamie started his journey with us as a foot patrol Parking Attendant. His initial role involved patrolling designated areas, ensuring compliance with parking regulations and assisting the public with parking related enquiries.
After 2 years Jamie moved to an On-Board Parking Attendant role which included covering the late mobile patrol unit. This role expanded his responsibilities to include patrolling the wider areas of the City of Brighton & Hove and overseeing removal of vehicles in contravention.
Jamie was later promoted to Radio Operator. In this position, he became the first point of contact for over 100 on street staff, providing advice and support as needed. This role significantly enhanced his responsibilities and communication skills.
Approximately 2.5 years ago, Jamie was promoted to Fleet Supervisor. In this capacity, he manages the contracts fleet of green vehicles, ensuring they are maintained and meet operational standards. His role involves, logistics, coordination and oversight of the fleet operations and their riders and drivers.
For 13 years, Jamie served as a GMB union representative. His efforts were crucial in fostering positive relations between us and the union. He played a key role in negotiations, ensuring that both colleagues and the company’s interest were met.
Jamie is currently pursuing his Transport Manager Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) training and has successfully passed the first module. He has also completed his HIAB (Hydraulic loading) and EOLAT (Operators License Awareness Training)
