London Brough of Brent and NSL are thrilled to announce we have been shortlisted at the British Parking Awards for Parking Team of the Year and Parking Partnership Award. This recognition celebrates our commitment to innovation, efficiency, and community service in parking management.
Since NSL was awarded the contract for parking services in Brent in July 2023, we have embarked on a transformative journey to enhance parking operations across the borough. Our collaborative efforts, led by the team at Brent and Ras Dewan (Account Director, NSL), has resulted in significant improvements.
Key achievements include:
- Seamless mobilisation: The transition to the new parking services contract was executed flawlessly, ensuring uninterrupted service and immediate operational efficiency.
- Fleet innovation: Introduction of an electric fleet, including e-vehicles, e-mopeds, and e-cycles, contributing to reduced emissions and improved response times.
- Enhanced enforcement: Deployment of new Civil Enforcement Officer (CEO) equipment and CCTV cameras, improving enforcement capabilities and efficiency.
- Customer-centric solutions: Transitioned to a new virtual permit system and upgraded customer service infrastructure, resulting in a smoother user experience for Brent residents.
Commitment to sustainability and social value
Our dedication extends beyond operational excellence to environmental and social responsibility. Marston Holdings is on a mission to achieve net-zero emissions by 2040, aligning with Brent Council’s goals for cleaner air and a greener future. Our initiatives include:
- Tree planting: Contributing to the Council’s tree fund initiative, with six trees already planted to combat climate change.
- Local employment: Engaging with local job fairs and recruitment agencies to provide opportunities for Brent residents, with 83% of our contract employees being local.
Building strong partnerships
Our success is rooted in a strong partnership model. The “one team” approach has fostered seamless cooperation between Brent and NSL, enabling effective problem-solving and continuous improvement. This collaboration is exemplified by our joint efforts in tackling blue badge misuse and persistent parking evaders.
Brent’s lead Member for Environment and Enforcement, Councillor Krupa Sheth, praised the partnership: “This reflects the borough’s ambitious commitment to become carbon neutral by 2030 and hit our other environmental goals. We aim to contribute to cleaner air and a greener future for our residents, whilst also providing a first-class service.”
