The challenge
A hotel in Llandudno had an unpaid energy bill of £20,000 that an energy supplier was chasing.
Our solution
The energy supplier issued a High Court Writ of Control against the defendant. An Enforcement Agent attended the address, which was found to be closed for the off-season. We received communication from a business energy broker working for the hotel, who asked for some time to investigate as there were unresolved queries over the amount claimed. Two weeks were granted but this passed without payment. The owner of the hotel was advised that we cannot hold enforcement any further and we must proceed to execute the High Court Writ of Control unless the balance is paid.
The impact
Within five days of the hold period ending, a bank transfer was received for the amount due in full.
