During COP28, we are pleased to announce that as part of our ongoing commitment to environmental responsibility, we have partnered with Ecologi, a carbon offsetting company. This collaboration follows on from our recent sustainability initiatives such as the Marston green car scheme and our rollout of carbon literacy training.
Since 2019, Ecologi, a certified B Corp, has effectively planted 75.7 million trees and averted the release of 2.9 million tonnes of carbon. These accomplishments have been achieved through a range of projects, including the establishment of solar power initiatives in Morocco and the preservation of rainforests in Colombia. Not only have these endeavours made significant environmental contributions, but they have also generated numerous jobs and opportunities, all while aligning with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
In partnership with Ecologi, we will offset residual carbon from our business operations, this will typically be in contracts and parts of the business where we have already reduced our emissions, renewed appliances and are now ready to offset. As such, we will offset our first carbon-neutral contract in the new year, with real-time updates on Ecologi’s dashboard. This contract has already seen an electrification of the vehicular fleet and a switch to LED, paving the way for many more carbon neutral contracts.
Our colleagues can also offset their own carbon emissions through Ecologi’s user-friendly platform. This initiative is geared towards simplifying people’s contributions to environmental sustainability in their daily lives.
At Marston Holdings, we provide our clients with end-to-end solutions to improve the environment and air quality in their communities, including air quality monitoring, traffic reduction schemes and camera enforcement. We look forward to working closely with Ecologi to continuously finding ways to improve our business operations to support climate resilience and net zero strategy.
“We are very proud to be partnering with Ecologi as the final part of our corporate ‘reduce, renew, offset’ climate resilience and net zero strategy.
We have a creative and passionate group of carbon literate green leaders across our business and brands and we are working with some very ambitious councils on innovative ways to meet our joint climate pledges.
We look forward to targeted carbon offsetting and carbon avoidance investment through our technology, consultancy and transportation contracts though real projects both in the UK and abroad.”
