Elizabeth Filkin, CBE, Chair of Marston Holdings’ independent Advisory Group, presented one of the Good Scrutiny Awards at the Centre for Public Scrutiny (CfPS) annual conference, which took place between 2 – 3 June 2015.

The annual conference, sponsored by Marston Holdings, included an evening dedicated to the CfPS Good Scrutiny Awards. Elizabeth presented the Overall Impact Award, which was won by Lincoln City Council.  The Councils’ submission was based on their anti-poverty strategy, how they achieved real results and involved many voluntary organisations.

Now in its eighth year, the awards were created to recognize and celebrate the best in public scrutiny and the contribution which non-executives make to good governance and improving public services.

Marston Holdings’ Non-Executive and Governance Director, Claer Lloyd-Jones, was one of the expert panel of judges.

Elizabeth Filkin, CBE commented:

“Public scrutiny is of critical importance in ensuring that organisations are robust and well managed.

These awards showcase best practice, and I’m delighted that the achievements have been publicly recognised.”

The event was also attended by Baroness Eaton DBE, DL and member of the Advisory Group, and Adam Downing, Group Legal and Compliance Director.
